TPI has lifted its crop price to secure 9500 hectares this season…
Following initial poppy crop price increases for the 2011/12 season, TPI is lifting its crop pricing in response to competition for poppy growing area.
Competition for good quality poppy growing area is already strong for the 2011/12 season. In response, TPI is further increasing its crop pricing. Under the new scales the average TPI grower will get increases of around 40% over 2010/11 pricing. Higher assay growers will see increases of around 50% over 2010/11 pricing. Growers already contracted to the earlier price schedule will automatically qualify for the revised pricing. TPI expects this revised pricing will make it the price leader in the morphine crop market.
In addition to these substantial price increases, TPI is maintaining the previously introduced grower bonus scheme that delivers bonus payments to growers providing significant quantities of alkaloid.
TPI is proud to be bringing both growth and competition to the Tasmanian poppy industry. With this comes increased returns to Tasmanian poppy growers, jobs for Tasmanian workers and new investment in research and development.
